Hummus with Black Garlic

Mike made a regular batch of hummus and added 2 cloves of black garlic. Delicious!

Cheese Sauce for Pretzels

I made a basic cheese sauce to eat fresh pretzels with. I got a starter recipe here. I made a half batch and added spices. It’s delicious. It was plenty for four small homemade pretzels.

20170109 - Cheese Sauce


    1 TBL butter
    1 TBL flour
    Spices to taste: granulated garlic, ground pepper, cayenne

    Combine these in a small sauce pan on medium-high heat, melt butter, and stir until butter starts to brown, and then add:
    1/2 cup of milk
    stir until combined, and then add:
    4 oz – shredded sharp cheddar

Homemade Soft Pretzels

Randy came over to visit on New Year’s Eve and he brought soft pretzels to share. They were delicious so we asked for the recipe. He said he used Alton Brown’s Soft Pretzel Recipe. Today we made our second batch.

It’s pretty easy, especially for two people working together it goes fast. So delicious. These will have to become a staple food in our house.

About once a week Mike makes a fresh load of homemade bread. I eat most of it. As toast. I love toast.

Mai Tai Season is Back

20160507-MaiTai

1/2 cup of Orange Juice
1/2 cup of Pineapple Juice
1 oz dark rum
1 oz light rum
1 oz coconut rum
Splash of lime juice
Drizzle of Grenadine

Add all ingredients to a large tumbler and then top up with ice.
