Tiny Ninja’s of Love

They want to ride around in your pocket/purse and spread their *SQUEE* powered love to everyone you encounter.

This awesome little idea floated past at just the right time. I made four of them, and there may never be another. I gave the red one to Mike, the hot-pink one to Jeanine (who’s bday is 2/14), the purple one is patiently waiting to go to the person who sent the idea in my direction, and I think I’ll be keeping the blue one.

Homemade Pizza Sauce

1 large can of tomato sauce (106 oz)
Italian herbs (center pile)
sage (right of Italian herbs)
garlic powder (very yellow in photo)
onion powder (top, white, right of oil pour)
cayenne powder
ground pepper (above sage)
salt
sugar (not shown)
olive oil

Sorry, the ingredients weren’t actually measured.

Stir all ingredients together in large pot. Start on medium-high heat, and when it shows signs of starting to bubble lower heat to simmer. Simmer covered for a couple hours. Check on it and stir at least every 30 minutes. Then simmer with splatter screen and no lid, so it will thicken up, for at least another 90 minutes.

Turn the heat off when you decide it’s done. Let it cool down. Then bag it up in “snack” size zipper bags, and put those into quart sized freezer bags, so it’s easy to pull them out one at a time to use without having to unthaw the whole batch.

Adventures in Moving a Boat

Melange Wed. – Michael and Andie rented a horrendously large SUV (nothing “sport” or “utility” about it though, it was just a huge car.) Strapping the dinghy to the top was quite the ordeal. Loaded up gear and drove to Bellingham.

Thu. – I drove Mike and more gear to the boat in B’ham. We stayed the night on the boat. The bed was harder than we’re used to at home, but it was big enough, warm and dry. Certainly better than camper.

Fri. AM – I got off the boat and they started sailing South with it. (I drove to Mount Vernon and bought new tires for my car. Badly needed. Very happy with the new ones.) Then drove to La Conner and spent a couple hours with Judy. Then Mike called to say they were moored in La Conner Marina, and we headed down there. Continue reading
