Adventures in Moving a Boat

Melange Wed. – Michael and Andie rented a horrendously large SUV (nothing “sport” or “utility” about it though, it was just a huge car.) Strapping the dinghy to the top was quite the ordeal. Loaded up gear and drove to Bellingham.

Thu. – I drove Mike and more gear to the boat in B’ham. We stayed the night on the boat. The bed was harder than we’re used to at home, but it was big enough, warm and dry. Certainly better than camper.

Fri. AM – I got off the boat and they started sailing South with it. (I drove to Mount Vernon and bought new tires for my car. Badly needed. Very happy with the new ones.) Then drove to La Conner and spent a couple hours with Judy. Then Mike called to say they were moored in La Conner Marina, and we headed down there. Continue reading

Senora Muerta, aka Matilda Addams

Lady Death

This is Matilda Addams, she loves Día de los Muertos, and was Senora Muerta for Halloween.

This is how I inspire myself to dress up every year. I’m not so much for just doing the vampire or whatever. I’ve been enamored with the party scene from The Addams Family movie since I first saw it, and I love to invent members of the family. Those wonderfully morbid and quirky cousins. Anyhow, cousin Matilda came out to play this year, and she was a huge success.

Regretsy Visits Seattle

April Winchell of Regretsy was at the Elliott Bay Book Company sharing her hate mail, and a slide show of outrageously overpriced items found on Etsy. Unfortunately we’re having a heatwave in Seattle just now, and it got really hot in the basement where this event happened, especially with 100+ people in the room. She was a trooper though. Funny and charming through the whole thing.

As You Like It

Shakespeare in the Park – “As You Like It” – presented by GreenStage

Mok as minstrel Oof! plot thickens not good

I learned of this at the last minute, and Mike and I rushed out the door to go see it. Other than the old ladies who brought full size folding chairs and sat down in front of us, it was quite a lot of fun. I really want to pay better attention to the free Shakespeare in the park shows in the future. My friend Mok was in this show, and is how I learned of it, of course, and I think he did a marvelous job in the variety of small and medium roles he played (almost everyone in the cast had at least two parts). The whole cast was good. A couple were harder to hear than most, but we were able to keep up with the comic story with no trouble. Great fun! [Many More Photos on Flickr]
